Understanding fees
What Rental charges, what renters pay, and worked examples of a payout.
Rental charges a flat 10% service fee on the rental amount, deducted from the owner's payout. Renters pay a 5% processing fee at checkout. Nothing else — no listing fees, no subscription, no per-photo upsells.
Owner fees
The 10% service fee covers payment processing, the hold mechanism, calendar and booking tooling, and dispute handling. It's only charged on completed rentals — cancelled bookings cost you nothing.
Worked example
You list a camera at $90/day. A renter books it for 3 days:
| Line | Amount |
|---|---|
| Rental (3 × $90) | $270.00 |
| Service fee (10%) | −$27.00 |
| Your payout | $243.00 |
If you'd collected a $100 deposit hold, it's released to the renter — you never pay a fee on deposits that aren't claimed.
Renter fees
Renters see one total before they request: rental + 5% processing fee. On the $270 rental above, the renter pays $270 + $13.50 = $283.50. There are no hidden charges after checkout, and delivery fees (if you offer delivery) show as their own line.
Fee schedule at a glance
| Fee | Who pays | When |
|---|---|---|
| 10% service fee | Owner | Deducted from payout |
| 5% processing fee | Renter | At checkout |
| Deposit | Renter (hold only) | Released on return |
| Cancellation fee | Owner (owner-initiated only) | When you cancel a confirmed booking |
Refunds and fees
When a renter cancels under your policy, both the service fee and processing fee are refunded along with the rental amount — fees only stick on completed rentals. If you cancel, the renter is made whole including fees, and the cancellation fee compensates them for the disruption.
