Managing booking requests

Approving, declining, messaging, and changing bookings after they're confirmed.

Requests land in your dashboard and by email. Most take under a minute to handle — here's what each action does.

Approving a request

Approving charges the renter's card immediately and locks the dates on your calendar. From that moment the booking is confirmed, and the cancellation policy you chose applies to both sides.

You don't need to approve every request. If a date no longer works, decline — the renter isn't charged and your ranking isn't penalized for declines.

Declining politely

A short reason goes a long way. Renters see a standard decline notice; you can add a message suggesting alternate dates if you'd still like the booking.

Messaging

Each booking has its own thread, available from request to completion. Use it for pickup logistics and condition questions — everything on the record makes any later dispute a two-minute read instead of a he-said-she-said.

Contact details (phone numbers, addresses) are only revealed after a booking is confirmed.

Changing a confirmed booking

Both sides can propose changes to dates and price from the booking page:

  • Date changes re-check the calendar; if the new dates are free, the booking moves and the price difference is charged or refunded.
  • Price changes (say, adding a missing accessory) need the other side to accept within 24 hours.

Changes never need a cancel-and-rebook — the thread and payment history stay intact.

If something feels off

You can decline any request for any reason, no explanation owed. If a message seems like a scam attempt — off-platform payment requests, pressure to communicate outside Rental — decline and report it from the message thread. See Contact support for how reports are handled.
