Getting paid
Payout schedules, hold periods, and connecting your bank account.
Rental charges renters up front and pays owners after the rental completes. This page explains the timeline and the knobs you control.
The hold period
When you approve a booking, the renter is charged immediately, but the money isn't yours yet — Rental holds it for the whole rental. The day after you confirm the return, the payout is scheduled. The hold is what lets Rental refund cleanly when things go wrong.
Payout schedule
| Event | What happens |
|---|---|
| You approve a booking | Renter charged; funds held |
| Rental period ends | You confirm the return in the dashboard |
| Next business day | Payout is scheduled and shows as "In transit" |
| 1–3 business days later | Money arrives in your bank |
Weekend returns confirm Monday morning, so the clock never starts on a Saturday.
Connecting your bank account
Add an account once from Settings → Payouts. Payouts require:
- A verified email address
- A bank account in a supported country
- Your name matching the account holder's name
You'll get an email the first time each stage completes — connected, first payout scheduled, first payout delivered.
Minimum payout
There's no minimum. Even a single $15 rental pays out on schedule. Earnings from multiple completed rentals are batched into one transfer per day.
Taxes
You're responsible for reporting rental income. Rental doesn't withhold taxes, but annual earnings summaries are available from Settings → Payouts → Statements each January. For anything beyond that, talk to a tax professional — rules vary by location and by how much you earn.
