Quickstart: your first listing
From empty account to a live listing (and your first booking request) in about ten minutes.
This walkthrough takes you from a fresh account to a published listing you can share anywhere. Total time: about ten minutes.
1. Create your account
Sign up with email — no credit card required. Your account is the home for every listing, booking, and payout that follows.
2. Add a listing
From the dashboard, choose New listing and fill in the basics:
- Title and description — say what it is and what it's great for.
- Photos — 3–5 bright, honest photos. Include one of any wear or damage; it prevents disputes later.
- Pricing — a day rate and, optionally, a weekly rate. Not sure what to charge? Understanding fees shows how your cut is calculated.
- Availability — block out dates the item is unavailable. The calendar updates instantly.
A good description answers three questions: what is it, who is it for, and what's included. Here's a pattern that works:
Canon EOS R6 + 24-105mm lens — full-frame mirrorless, perfect for
events and travel. Includes two batteries, a 128GB card, and a
weather-sealed bag. Ideal for a weekend shoot.
3. Publish and share
Hit Publish and your listing goes live on its own URL. Share the link in group chats, marketplaces, or your neighborhood forum — requests all flow back into Rental.
4. Handle your first request
When a request lands you'll get an email and a dashboard notification. Approve it, and the renter pays immediately. Rental holds the payment until the rental completes. See Managing booking requests for the details.
That's it. Everything else — payouts, cancellation policies, deposits — has sensible defaults you can change later from the listing settings.
