Everyone owns something that sits idle most of the year: the camera that comes out twice annually, the pressure washer, the spare room, the trailer. The money in renting those things out is real — the coordination overhead is what kills it.
Today we're opening the private beta of Rental, and this post is a quick tour of what that means.
One place for the whole loop
Rental covers the three parts of renting out your stuff that usually live in a tangle of messages, spreadsheets, and bank transfers:
- Listings — photos, rates, and availability, published in minutes.
- Bookings — requests, approvals, and a calendar that stays honest.
- Payouts — money that arrives without anyone chasing an invoice.
No DMs, no "so when can you pick it up?", no Venmo thread at the end.
Built for owners first
Marketplaces usually optimize for buyers, because buyers are the ones browsing. But owners are the ones doing the work: photographing, answering, handing over, cleaning. So we started there — the owner dashboard shows every upcoming booking, every pending request, and the money in flight, on one screen.
Renters get the other half of the same deal: real calendars, instant requests, and a record of what was agreed.
What's live in the beta
Today's beta includes listings, booking requests with approvals, payout tracking, and the first version of the owner dashboard. We're onboarding a small group at a time — grab an invite and tell us what breaks.
